Not tech-related post, but tech-related one is coming after this one, promise😉
I've never really been into sports, but before graduating I was quite a bit more physically active. After going fully remote on my job, I had no incentive to go outside and got a habit of snacking, causing myself to go close to overweight.
Luckily, I realised that I was going down that route early enough and decided that something needed to change. I've reviewed my eating habits and added more walking into my routine. I started doing roughly 10k steps 3-4 days per week and cut down on junk food/sweets. This has led to me losing about 18 kg in ~6 months, going from BMI of almost 28 to 21.5.
Overall, it has caused me to feel a lot better, and my look has also changed a bit. I think it's really not worth it to look at the scale/looks, but rather check your physical abilities and eating habits. Imo it's more important that you are able to go up a few stairs with no issues and don't fill your organism with things that are not good for it(even if they do taste nicely😭) than some numbers.
During my trip to Poltava in February, my friend has made me go to the gym with him😸. Unexpectedly, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and after returning to Lviv, I started looking for a gym here. After finding one quite a bit away from my home and finding a coach, I started going there 3 times a week.
Today is 12th of July, so I've been going to the gym for more than 5 months🎉. I've progressed quite a bit (bench PR is 70 kg 2 reps, squat PR is 70 kg 3 reps), gained some muscle, and I also really enjoy the social aspect of the gym. It's a community of people dedicated to bettering themselves.
Small advices on how to make habits stick:
